Female New York Teacher Accused of Having Sex with Student in Motel

A New York City female teacher is accused of having sex with a student at a motel.

Detectives arrested Tara Driscoll, 33, of Bayshore, N.Y., Friday morning and charged her with rape, MyFoxNY.com reports.

Driscoll, who is a teacher at Magnet High School in Cambria Heights, Queens, reportedly drove the boy to the Capri Motel in Lynbrook, N.Y. on March 19, 2011, and had "sexual relations" with him, police said.

Police say the boy is under the age of 17. In New York, the age of consent is 17.

Police made the arrest after an interview with the student. Investigators also looked at phone records and a videotape, according to the criminal complaint filed with the court.

Driscoll was arraigned Friday on charges of third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act, police said. She is due back in court Aug. 15.
