SD judge signs extradition order for Iowa man accused of killing wife, kidnapping son

A South Dakota judge has signed the extradition order for an Iowa man accused of killing his wife and kidnapping his son.

KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids is reporting (http://bit.ly/qMeSEw ) that 39-year-old Thomas Petersen, of Greene, Iowa, is expected to be charged with first-degree murder in the June 4 stabbing death of his wife, Judy Petersen.
Bennett County South Dakota Circuit Court Judge Lori Wilbur signed the extradition order late Thursday. A clerk of court says arrangements have been made to transport Petersen back to Iowa. Once he's returned, he has 24 hours to appear in a Butler County courtroom.

He is accused of stabbing his wife in their home and then fleeing with the couple's 2-year-old son. He was stopped by police near Kadoka, S.D. several hours later.
